Solano Midnight Sun Foundation

The Solano Midnight Sun Foundation (SMSF) was co-founded in May of 2004 by Vacaville residents: Debbie Wood and Elizabeth Fry who both survived breast cancer in 2003-2004. During their 6 months of treatment, they encountered many less fortunate women who were not only fighting for their lives, but had become financially destitute as a result. Debbie and Elizabeth felt very fortunate that their cancer had been detected early through a routine mammogram. They also felt fortunate that they were financially in good shape and had tremendous support from their family and friends. They found out during their treatment that many women were not so lucky and realized that they needed to do something to help.

SMSF provides temporary financial assistance to women who during their treatments need help paying their basic living expenses. To date we have given financial assistance to 54 breast cancer patients to help them through their treatments, The foundation also promotes breast health and early detection and provides mammogram sponsorship to under insured women. We have sponsored 147 mammograms for women throughout Solano County.

The Solano Midnight Sun Foundation is incorporated as a nonprofit 501(c)(3),
